realestatecorporate3The attorneys of KM are prepared to handle all aspects of probate and estate administration. Probate is the legal process of proving the validity of a will and administering the estate per the planning documents. The provisions of the will direct how the decedent’s assets are distributed upon death. Estate administration also can include non-probate transfers such as life insurance, annuities, and trust assets. Our lawyers are prepared to assist in gathering, valuing, accounting for and distributing the decedent’s assets as well as working with your tax advisors to prepare final federal and state tax returns and other documents to release liens on a decedent’s real estate. As advisor to the personal representative of an estate, we assist the personal representative to properly carry out the decedent’s intent including facilitating the transfer of assets to the appropriate party in accordance with the planning documents and the law.
